AIRISE

Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing for Sustainable Applications at SMEs

Acronym
: AIRISE
Framework: Horizon Europe
Duration of the project: 01.01.2023. – 30.06.2026.

Aim of the project:

The ARISE project will support European SMEs in the uptake of Artificial Intelligence applied to manufacturing, with a specific focus on the use of AI-enabled applications at the edge. The key objective for applications is a reduction of waste and carbon footprint while ensuring the resilient operation of manufacturing.
The consortium will create an eco-system where the project’s AI experts will support experimenting SMEs and connect them to Digital Innovation Hubs and commercial companies to achieve real-world applications. Open Calls will allow SMEs to easily access AI expert competence through first stage assessments that identify the status and potential and through further proposals that support them in running pilot applications and validation experiments.
ARISE activities will help SMEs to achieve real-world AI applications in manufacturing by providing the best lessons in the digital chain for Manufacturing of functional parts covering:

  • certifiable, robust and explainable AI,
  • trustworthy data integration,
  • merging models and data in AI,
  • computational AI hardware and software,
  • decision-making for engineering systems
  • and AI systems engineering.

The ambition of the project is to support more than 500 cases from SMEs and mid-caps on key AI applications at the edge. Support from the consortium will be complemented on security and connectivity by involving external resources in cybersecurity and IoT and on smart working environments by offerings on operator interfaces and collaborative robots.

Activity of PBN:

PBN provides one of the 26 aforementioned DIHs with having am-LAB organization as its subsidiary certified by the European Union, where currently 6 engineers and another 4 members of the staff working actively on innovative solutions having Industry4.0 program as the focus point of the organization and using devices like 3D printers applying multiple technologies, 3D scanner, autonomous mobile robot, indoor drone, HoloLens, collaborative robotic arm and manufacturing simulation intelligent production line.
PBN is involved in all work packages, especially WP3 which targets to develop and offer the AI services that will be utilized to help SMEs in adapting AI tools in their daily business. These services will be targeted on different levels and stages of the manufacturing value chain:

  • design & engineering
  • monitoring & control
  • manufacturing operation
  • production chain
  • supply chain
  • training

The PBN is responsible for the coordination of supply chain AI services within the work package, this task will target the development of AI methods and tools for the supply chain and logistics part of the value chain (optimization AI strategies, efficient warehouse management, ML algorithms).
