KARMA Project Advances Circular Economy Initiatives: 3rd Interregional Meeting in Calabria

 In a bid to foster sustainable practices and promote circular economy initiatives, the KARMA project recently convened its 3rd Interregional Meeting in the picturesque region of Calabria, Italy. This significant gathering brought together project partners and stakeholders from various European regions, marking a pivotal moment in the project's journey towards enhancing environmental stewardship and economic resilience.

The two-day event, held on February 7th and 8th, 2024, saw active participation from key stakeholders including representatives from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, County Bergstraße, Suceava Municipality, Pannon Business Network, and others. Hosted by Eurokom Association and the Region of Calabria, the meeting facilitated constructive dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strategic planning aimed at advancing the objectives of the KARMA project.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the discussion surrounding personal changes within project leadership, underscoring the seamless transition and commitment to project continuity. Additionally, participants delved into a range of topics including the exchange of good practices, lessons learned, and experiences in circular economy endeavors. The agenda also featured insightful study visits to notable sites in Calabria, such as the Ecosistem Srl Plant in Lamezia Terme and circular restoration projects in Gerace.

Crucial decisions were made regarding the upcoming reporting periods, with deadlines outlined for submission and reporting procedures clarified to ensure effective project management. Importantly, plans for the 4th Interregional Meeting, slated to take place in Szombathely, were solidified, emphasizing the project's momentum and commitment to ongoing collaboration.

In addition to formal deliberations, the meeting fostered opportunities for bilateral meetings between project partners, digital partnership sessions, and discussions on staff exchanges to enhance mutual learning and capacity-building efforts.
