Tradition Meets Innovation – Highlights from the DECORATOR Workshop in Szombathely
On 31 May, the DECORATOR project brought together experts, students, and the public at the Vas Open-Air Museum to explore the power of natural building materials in sustainable architecture.
The Social Treasure Hunt took participants on a guided tour of a 19th-century peasant house, highlighting the ecological value of timber, clay, and straw in traditional construction.
In the afternoon, an expert roundtable featured voices from academia, SMEs, and industry discussing innovations like CLT timber, breathable clay plasters, and hempcrete.
With over 180 online viewers, the event succeeded in sparking dialogue between professionals and the public. It proved that the fusion of heritage and innovation is key to creating a climate-conscious built environment.
