- PBN Highlights - January News Summary
Starting from 2025, we are launching a monthly summary series in which, at the end of each month, we will highlight the most important events, study trips, and the lessons we have learned from them. Our goal is to provide a transparent, easily understandable picture of the exciting developments and collaborations happening at PBN. Each month, we will showcase the key moments and milestones that contribute to advancing scientific and technological innovations, sustainability, and ecosystem development. In our January summary, we will feature interesting events such as career orientation days, international study trips, and expert meetings.
Career orientation day with a focus on digitalization
As part of our digitization-focused career orientation activities, we welcomed students from the PTE Vocational School of Social and Health Care at the am-LAB digital centre. During the guided tour, students gained insight into exciting fields such as automated manufacturing, additive product design, and the visual possibilities enabled by 3D technologies. They also had the opportunity to meet our social-purpose humanoid robot.
Study visit to Budapest in the eTOM – Education for Tomorrow Project
The first study visit of the eTOM Austrian-Hungarian cross-border project took place in Budapest, where we explored the bilingual education system of Orchidea Kindergarten and School. A key topic of the visit was the application of digital technologies in education. At the Edu&Fun Experience Center and Maker’s Red Box demonstrations, we learned about the tools and methodologies for developing practical skills, including 3D printers, robots, and programmable components.
Visit to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
Another successful
SMERF Interreg CE project partner meeting took place at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) on the 21-22 January.
Our SMERF project has reached a crucial stage. Soon, we will begin collaborating with 160 SMEs across the seven regions represented by our project partners. Using the online SMERF Diagnosis Tool that we developed, we will assess advancement of the companies in key areas:
- innovation culture
- digital manufacturing
- open innovation approaches
- green & circular economy & sustainability
Peer Review in Maribor
The peer review meetings have officially begun within the
3P4SSE project. The first stop of the series took place in Maribor, where the Slovenian partners presented their Local Action Plan and pilot activities to the partnership.
Following the presentation, an informal discussion was held with stakeholders, providing an opportunity to personally connect with partners, exchange experiences, and discuss challenges encountered so far.
The meeting continued in Poljčane, where the organizers symbolically demonstrated the "Living Nest" concept, emphasizing the importance of public-private collaboration in developing the social and solidarity economy.
A total of four peer reviews will take place within the project. The next event will be hosted by PBN.
