The DECORATOR Critical Thinking Symposium, held on October 1-2, 2024, in Gorizia (Italy) and Nova Gorica (Slovenia), provided a unique opportunity to explore circular economy practices in the building sector and art. Organized under the DECORATOR project, the event aimed to drive the circular transformation of the built environment in the Danube Region, aligning with the New European Bauhaus initiative.
For PBN, the symposium was invaluable in offering insights into sustainable practices and innovative business models. Experts from the building sector shared real-world applications of circular economy principles, such as adaptive reuse and material recycling. Sessions on cement production and mass timber design highlighted the potential of these strategies in reducing waste and conserving resources.
The symposium’s mix of academic presentations, case studies, and debates helped identify key gaps and challenges in the circular economy. For the PBN, it offered valuable networking opportunities and actionable strategies to incorporate circularity into business practices, ensuring that attendees are well-positioned for future sustainable growth.
