Building the Future with Heritage and Innovation – Hungary’s Contribution to the DECORATOR Project
2025-03-08
In Hungary, the DECORATOR project pilots are bridging tradition and innovation in the construction sector. With the active participation of Pannon Business Network (PBN) and EDUPARK, four diverse pilot actions are unfolding to create a more sustainable, digital, and circular construction industry.
Pilot 1 brings traditional materials and techniques back into focus. Through interactive workshops and community treasure hunts, participants explore how wood and other local resources can support eco-friendly architecture. A comprehensive database will document these insights for future projects.
Pilot 2 supports SMEs in designing future-proof business models. With online learning tools and BauLabs co-design sessions, five Hungarian SMEs will receive expert support to develop circular, digital solutions.
Pilot 3 introduces digital tools to improve construction and demolition processes. A tailored assessment and prototype competition help SMEs identify how to go green – from planning to deconstruction.
Pilot 4 blends creativity with sustainability. In co-ideation workshops involving artists and students, a prototype for a digital educational space will be developed, showcasing how architecture can inspire and educate.
These pilots are not only testing new ideas – they’re empowering stakeholders across sectors to shape a more responsible and resilient built environment in Hungary and beyond.
