Fostering innovation in integrated healthcare systems solutions

Acronym: digitalLIFE4CE
Framework:Interreg Central Europe Programme
Duration of the project: 01.05.2017-31.10.2019

Aim of the project:

The digitalLIFE4CE project identified novel solutions in the field of digital integrated healthcare systems. The fragmentation of the health care system as well as weak cooperation between relevant actors negatively affect regional authorities, care providers and citizens in many regions of central Europe. To answer these weaknesses, the project brought together policy makers, experts from research and development and actors relevant for implementation.
The Project established a new framework to provide policy stakeholders with: a global picture on available health care solutions and their implications; technology solution providers with options for joint cooperation; and beneficiaries with new applications and technologies. Additionally, the project did research and promoted best practice cases in so called ‘Healthcare Excellence Spots’ and investigated ways to increase investment in digital health start-ups and to boost innovation in healthcare systems with a need for an integrated care coordination.

Project partners:

Activity of PBN:

PBN contributed to the creation of  a CE think-tank for future search & strategic cooperation on integrated digital healthcare solutions.
CE THINK TANK focus areas:

  1. Big data & digital health trends
Population-wide big data monitoring and analysis is a core element of the advancement of integrated digital healthcare. This thematic area is about the challenges and opportunities that exist with population-wide big-data analytics for assessing health trends or monitoring the health-related subject matter, such as environmental health parameters of epidemiology.

  1. Connected health & network building
Tools that improve connectivity between healthcare actors can be open innovation platforms/systems that further engage “less-easily accessible actors from the health-value chain.

  1. Digital assistance in healthcare delivery
Healthcare delivery is becoming more revolutionized each day with the inclusion and integration of digital assistance systems and digital assistants to support the provision of care in many forms (from chronic and long-term care to acute and curative care.

  1. Digitalization for healthcare management
Healthcare management is prevarieties across all sections of the healthcare value-chain (and occurs in all healthcare institutions).
This topic refers to the organizational design and functionality of the institutions which manage healthcare development & delivery.

  1. Digitalization for health promotion & prevention
Engagement with quantified self apps and wearable technologies to improve knowledge dissemination and public participation in digital health innovations/policy development, also all activities to improve health or to prevent illnesses by using new technologies, social media, or digital innovations.

  1. Technical and organizational infrastructure for integrated healthcare
Integrated digital healthcare system solutions and case studies would not be able to exist without the appropriate technological or organizational infrastructure (physical structure) to enable the dissemination of digital healthcare solutions and applications

  1. Data security & compliance in healthcare

The provision of integrated digital healthcare comes with questions and interest about data security, doctor-patient compliance, and generally about digital standards in the   transmission/observation use and extrapolation of digital health data. This focus is horizontal.
